Thanks to this victory, the world number 11 avenged the defeat of Michelsen, who won their meeting in Los Cabos earlier this season, so that now their head to head is tied at 1-1.

For the fourth time Alex De Minaur has qualified for the second round of eight visits to the French Open. He has never advanced to the third round of a Grand Slam, but will be hoping to break that curse after he excelled at European clay-court tournaments this season, including claiming five wins in two Masters 1000 tournaments in Monte Carlo and Rome.

In the second round, De Minaur will meet Spanish tennis player, Jaume Munar, who won 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 over his compatriot, Roberto Bautista Agut.

In other action, the 31st seed, Mariano Navone, had to fight extra hard through the first round of the French Open. The tennis player who became the seeded tennis player for the first time in a Grand Slam, beat the Spanish tennis player, Pablo Carreno Busta, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.

This match was Carreno Busta’s first match in an ATP tournament after suffering from an elbow injury for more than 15 months.

The Argentinian tennis player, Navone, will next challenge Tomas Machac in the second round after the Czech tennis player beat the Portuguese tennis player, Nuno Borges, 7-6, 6-4, 6-3, which was his first win at Roland Garros, Paris.

In other action, fifth seed Daniil Medvedev faced a challenging match before winning 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 over German national Dominik Koepfer.

For a place in the third round, Medvedev will meet Serbian tennis player Miomir Kecmanovic who eliminated Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 6-2, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.
