Marc Marquez believes it will be difficult to repeat the momentum of being in the podium with his siblings in the MotoGP race. This view was conveyed by Marquez after finishing as runner-up and his younger brother, Alex Marquez, in third place in the 2024 German MotoGP.
Both of them successfully completed the race at the Sachsenring Circuit which lasted for 30 laps on Sunday (7/7/2024). The last time brothers and sisters got on the podium happened when Nobuatsu and Takuma Aoki at Imola 1997.
“I am very happy to be able to share the podium with my brother. This is a day I will never forget because it will be difficult to repeat it in the future,” said Marc on MotoGP.com. “Honestly, this season, I say it is impossible (to repeat it),” said the racer from Spain.
The racer nicknamed Baby Alien explained why this moment was so difficult to possibly happen again. “Why? Because it’s difficult for me to get on the podium. For him, too. So, finding the same Sunday when we’re both on the podium is something a bit surreal,” said Marquez. “Then in the dry, a very fast race. He is a very talented rider and today he showed it,” he said.
Marc Marquez hopes that the happiness of sharing the podium will also be felt by his father and mother. “I hope my father and mother enjoy it because it may be the last time we share the podium. We will enjoy it as if it were the last time!” he said.
The eight-time world champion actually experienced a difficult week at the German MotoGP. He had to start the race from 13th position. Marquez also had to fall during free practice on Friday (5/7/2024). He also faced technical problems with his motorbike. Friday’s crash caused a broken left index finger and bruised ribs. The Gresini Racing racer did not expect to be on the podium, his target in yesterday’s race was to recover and get better.
Marquez’s success in finishing in second place could not be separated from the fall of Jorge Martin (Pramac) in the remaining two rounds. Martin’s fall caused a change in position, Francesco Bagnaia was in front, followed by Marc and Alex Marquez in second and third. Now, Marc Marquez is in third place in the standings with 166 points.
