Manchester United are interested in negotiating a new deal with Fiorentina to recruit Sofyan Amrabat, but they are looking at the situation first before taking the option of activating a buyout clause worth 20 million euros.
Amrabat joined Man United on a season-long loan last September after performing brilliantly with Morocco at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 27-year-old has largely struggled during his first season in the Premier League, failing to make an impact in midfield for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Although he did not start consistently in the second half of the season, Amrabat managed to work his way back into the main squad impressing in recent league games against Newcastle and Brighton before his outstanding performance in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Man United Still Monitoring the Situation
According to Fabrizio Romano’s report, Man United’s loan agreement for Amrabat last year included an option to make his status permanent this summer, but the club rejected it.
However, Man United remain interested in keeping Amrabat at the club and are willing to discuss new terms.
Need a Midfielder
Man United have made two signings this summer, bringing in Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro from Bologna and Lille.
While the Red Devils also remain keen to sign another midfielder, a new defensive midfielder is also on their target list.
Man United Midfielder Choice Candidate
Apart from Amrabat, Man United are very interested in bringing Manuel Ugarte to Old Trafford, and the Uruguayan wants a move with personal terms thought to have been agreed.
Casemiro is one of a number of players who have been available for sale this summer with United this week rejecting a bid from Fulham for Scott McTominay.
Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen still has one year left on his contract but struggled to get playing time under Erik ten Hag last season.
Apart from Ugarte, Man United are also interested in Spanish and Real Sociedad star Martín Zubimendi.
