Saul Alvarez Wants to Rematch Dmitry Bivol

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has expressed his eagerness to rematch Dmitry Bivol and perhaps in May of the year 2025.

This comes in the backdrop of the loss to Bivol in May 2022, which has been eating in Canelo and his yearning to come back to the ring and get a proper compensation.

Their first fight saw Canelo look to capture the light heavyweight division where he faced Bivol who was the WBA champion at the time.

The match concluded with flashing the finger in Bivol’s favor thus depicting one of the biggest upsets in the recent past.

After fighting with Edgar Berlanga, where Canelo successfully defended the super-middleweight titles, he again expressed his desire to fight against Bivol once again.

To some extent, the rematch is possible, although Promoter Eddie Hearn has not disregarded the possibility of the rematch if Bivol keeps on winning his successive fights.

“Canelo kind of gave Dmitry his opportunity. It’s weird now that Dmitry kind of needs to give Canelo his opportunity to get back.” Hearn said.

“Listen, Canelo is a big underdog in that fight, and it’s probably the only fight out there where he’s going to be a big underdog.

“That’s the kind of guy he is. He wants that fight. He wants to avenge that defeat,” Hearn added.

Canelo’s camp is hopeful looking at this fight’s possibility and seeing it as a chance to regain the lost position and avenge the loss.

Bivol, who has the WBA light heavyweight title, has been demonstrating good results in the ring, which confirms his high rank of a modern fighter.

He is expected to fight Artur Beterbiev for the WBC Light Heavyweight world title on October 12, 2024, in Riyadh- Saudi Arabia.

This much-ballysed fight will be an undisputed light heavyweight championship bout, pitting two of the division’s stand out contenders against each other.

Even though Bivol keeps hovering around the possibility of not making a rematch with Canelo, it still seems to be exciting for both the boxers along with their camps.

Everyone in the boxing fraternity is looking forward to this possible rematch and fans are interested in how the two intending opponents will train for what may prove the biggest bout of their careers.

That is why, for Canelo, the win over Bivol would not only be a response to Gennady Golovkin and the first knock out, but also to prove once again that he is the same monster in the ring.

While this, Bivol plans on extending his KO streak while striving for the recognition as one of the greats in the division of 175 lbs.
