NBA Pays Tribute to Legend Dikembe Mutombo Who Passed on Aged 58

The basketball fraternity continues to vibrate with negative news after the death of Dikembe Mutombo, aged 58.

Dubbed one of the premier shot blockers in association basketball history, Mutombo off the floor was not only a two-time league Defensive Player of the Year.

He knelt to the ailment that wrestled him to the ground Monday due to brain cancer, though his deeds will continue to be felt for years.

Joseph D. Mobutu also known as Dikembe Mutombo was born on June 25, 1966 in Kinshasa, Zaire that made him the first NBA player from his country.

Mutohbo during his career pit his talent with the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, and the Houston Rockets.

He played 18 seasons in the league before retiring and was selected the NBA All-Star 8 times, and twice the NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

Although the finger wag had always been part of Mutombo’s celebration for blocking a shot, fans and players from all over the world identified with this full-arm wag of his.

He was admired for his power to switch the match outcome with his defense and successfully take teams throughout the playoffs.

He earned many accolades and analytic small wonders on the basketball court like being one of the all-time leading shot blockers in the league which surely propelled him to basket ball megastar status.

But off the basketball floor, Mutombo Studio overshadowed other achievements of the talented basketball player and made it iconic.

He was a devoted social activist; the Davido reached out healthcare and educational support in African.

In 1997 he established the Mutombo Foundation, which was directed at adopting methods of enhancing living standard back at home and also advocating for education and health.

As a philanthropist he got much respect from the society and showed the world that he is willing to make positive change.
