Muscle injury pulls Arsenal’s Sanchez out from Chile duty

In the next qualifier match, Chile will play without its Arsenal midfielder Alexis Sanchez who has suffered a muscle injury. Now Sanchez will miss Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia, as per a statement released by Chilean Football Federation. Chile is stood fifth in the 10 team South American qualifying competition for Russia 2018, and are scheduled to play Colombia and this team is directly above them in the standings in Barranquilla on Thursday.  They return home to face Uruguay in Santiago on Nov 15.

Chilean federation said in a short statement that “The player will remain in Santiago for treatment and under evaluation for Chile’s match against Uruguay.” The statement added that the Arsenal striker had suffered a minor muscle injury however they refrained from giving any more details about the player’s condition.

Team Chile has won the last two Copa Americas but has struggled in the World Cup qualifying campaigns winning four of their 10 games on the pitch. The team got awarded with a fifth victory when FIFA ruled that opponents Bolivia had fielded an ineligible player during their 0-0 draw last month.

They said in a statement: “He will remain in Santiago, under treatment and in evaluation for the meeting against Uruguay.”

Sanchez has already scored eight goals for Arsenal so far this season and the team has a busy spell of games coming up after their international break and losing Sanchez for any length of time would be a massive blow for the team.

It was feared that Sanchez could even miss games against Manchester United and Manchester City plus a Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners meet Jose Mourinho’s men on November 19 after the international break. The 27-year-old hitman has bagged eight goals so far this season, including a brace in the 4-1 win over Sunderland at the end of last month and the team is certainly missing his absence and eagerly waiting him to get back in the squad anytime.

Sanchez is receiving proper treatment and he should be fine in few days and get ready for all the action for the Chilean team and then get back to its original squad where action awaits him.
