Ruud van Nistelrooy Hopes to Help Red Devils With New Coaching Team

Ruud van Nistelrooy has expressed his readiness to stay at Manchester United in any capacity to help new coach Ruben Amorim who is widely rumored to be joining the Red Devils in the near future.

The statement was made by Van Nistelrooy after leading Man United to a landslide 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.

The former Red Devils striker was appointed as interim coach to replace Erik ten Hag who was fired last Monday (10/28/2024). In his debut as interim coach, van Nistelrooy managed to bring the Red Devils to appear aggressive by scoring five goals.

“This is the real Manchester United. We have to play entertainingly and score a lot of goals. I’m happy the players were able to show their quality tonight,” said Van Nistelrooy, as reported by Sky Sports.

“I came here as an assistant to help the club. Now in this role, I help as long as needed,” explained Nistelrooy, quoted from the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, MU has reportedly reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to bring in Ruben Amorim by fulfilling the release clause of £9.2 million or around Rp156 billion. The 39-year-old coach is expected to start work after the international break on November 10.

That way, Nistelrooy will still lead the team for the next three matches, starting with the big match against Chelsea this weekend in the continuation of the 10th matchday of the Premier League.

Reportedly, Amorim will bring his coaching team consisting of Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro, goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital and sports expert Paulo Barreira. This makes Ruud’s position not completely safe in the ranks of the Red Devils’ coaching staff

“In the future in any capacity, I am here to help the club further to build towards the future. That’s what I’m here for,” said Nistelrooy, emphasizing his commitment to contributing to MU’s long-term project.

Before joining MU, Nistelrooy had experience coaching PSV, both in the youth team and in the senior team from 2013 to 2023, although not continuously. In addition, the striker who contributed 35 goals from 70 appearances with De Oranje was also an assistant coach to Guus Hiddink in the Dutch national team in 2014.
