Two Indonesian National Team players, Mees Hilgers and Jay Idzes, provided different news ahead of the clash against Japan in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications.
It was reported by Dutch media Twente Insite that Hilgers would be absent from strengthening the Indonesian National Team. The 23 year old player is not yet fully fit after suffering an injury when Twente faced Willem II Tilburg in the Dutch League, 2 November.
“Hilgers doesn’t seem to be fully fit so he won’t be leaving for Indonesia during the international break,” wrote Twente Insite.
Meanwhile, Jay Idzes provided good news for Indonesian National Team supporters. The Venezia player has arrived in his homeland ahead of his match against Japan on Friday (15/11).
Idzes arrived in Indonesia with Nathan Tjoe-A-On. The arrival of Idzes and Nathan adds ammunition to the Indonesian National Team in preparations against Japan. A number of Indonesian National Team players have started carrying out light training sessions on Monday (11/11).
The Indonesian National Team players playing in League 1 have all joined. Likewise with players who work abroad, such as Maarten Paes, Marselino Ferdinan, Ivar Jenner, Justin Hubner and Jordi Amat.
The Indonesian National Team is targeting to score points against Japan at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta. It is also hoped that positive results will be obtained when they host Saudi Arabia at the same place just four days later.
Idzes advised Garuda supporters that the Indonesian National Team needs the support of Red and White fans in the two home matches.
“We need your support again, as usual, in the next two home matches! We are Garuda,” said Jay Idzes.
The Indonesian National Team is currently in fifth place in Group C standings with three points from the four matches played.

Then in third place is Saudi Arabia with a collection of five points. Then Bahrain is in fourth position with five points.
