Nelly Korda has been named as this year’s LPGA Player of the Year in a points-based selection process, with three tournaments remaining in the ongoing “LPGA Tour 2024”.
Korda has six wins in 2024 and has recorded three finishes in the top 10 list. During one stretch of the year, Korda did win five tournaments straight and that succeeded her second major champions.
“This season has had its highs and challenges, and I’m just really grateful for the people around me who have helped me get here,” Korda said.
“It’s been a team effort, and I’m proud to share this moment with them.” the 26-year-old added.
Recenly, Korda made another great performance at Cognizant Founders Cup securing a tie 7th position at the event. This achievement paved way for her spectacular win at the Mizuho Americas Open making it her sixth victory of the year.
Korda also played for her country in the women’s golf competition in the Paris 2024 Olympics, and the fifth appearance in the United States Solheim Cup Team in September where the team won by a three-point margin at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.
At one time or the other, Korda has finishing on the top and a multiple winner this season, which makes her a one to look forward to as the year unfolds.
Her history is a clear test to not only her commitment to gymnastic but her future ability to excel in the increasing competitive field of women’s golf.
As she progresses, everyone including those who watch her and those who analyse her work would want to know what she is achieving.
As the 2024 LPGA Tour season drew to its end, only Ayaka Furue would be in a position to challenge Korda when the TOTO Japan Classic began.
Ayaka needs to win the next four events on schedule — TOTO Japan Classic, LOTTE Championship, The ANNIKA and CME Group Tour Championship, to surpass Korda for the award.
