Rudy Gobert was the hero of the night for the Minnesota Timberwolves after dominating the Los Angeles Lakers with a 109-80 win on Monday night. The pivot scored 17 points and collected 12 rebounds as the Minneapolis side triumphed.
On the other side, D’Angelo Russell attempted all he could to bring the Lakers into the game. The Lakers superstars Anthony Davis and LeBron James only managed a total of 22 points.
Moreover, the team shot only 19.4 percent from the beyond arc and made 20 turnovers in the wrong half of the floor.
The game started in stalemating terms at Target Centre. The two teams exchanged baskets in the first parts of the game.
They then stuck with about four minutes around the time that D’ Angelo Russell provided the Lakers with a four-point lead. The lead was short lived however.
The Timberwolves then sparked a seven-point run and took the lead at 12-9. Since that time the teams exchanged turns in stakes and by the first break the host team was leading only 22-20.
It started tied in the second quarter and then Minnesota pulled away. A dunk by Gobert made the Timberwolves lead the Lakers 37 to 27 at the end of the third quarter.
A little later, Reid made a layup that also had a free throw with him putting Minnesota ahead by fifteen points. Then the Lakers scored a three-point basket from Russell, but had the half end trailing 56-44.
Thus, the Lakers, who had to score, showed indications that they would come back hard, and so they narrowed it down to nine points consequently.
Then Timberwolves awaked and again they controlled play again and emphasised on the actions. Three-pointers by Anthony Edwards widened the gap to fifteen points.
The team from Los Angeles attempted to answer but never got to take the point difference to a mere single digit.
