Venezia Performs Well When Holding Lazio to a Draw in Serie A

Venezia is a lower-ranked club in the relegation zone in the temporary standings of the Italian Serie A League. However, the last match against Lazio made Jay Idzes and his friends resemble a famous team in Serie A.

When they needed a win to get out of the relegation zone, Venezia faced Lazio, which is one of the teams with a high level of goal productivity.

Lazio, coached by Marco Baroni, is so far in 4th place and has scored 47 goals in Serie A. This record is only second to Inter Milan, who has collected 59 goals, and Atalanta, who has scored 54 goals.

The distribution of Gli Aquilotti’s goals is quite even. Striker Valentin Castellanos is the top scorer internally with nine goals. Then there are Boulaye Dia and Mattia Zaccagni with seven goals. Followed by Pedro who has collected five goals, as well as Gustav Isaksen, Adam Marusic, and Faruq Dele-Bashiru who each have a record of three goals.

When facing Venezia, only Castellanos did not appear due to a muscle injury. In addition, the players who usually contribute goals for the Eagles from Rome appeared.

Not afraid to face Lazio, Jay Idzes and his friends appeared confident and fairly aggressive.

The defense line guarded by Jay with Fali Cande and Alessandro Marcandalli was also fairly solid.

Lazio’s attacks could be suppressed. Of Lazio’s nine attempts to score goals, only three were on target and all were secured.

Lazio was forced to draw for 90 minutes. This is the fourth time Lazio has failed to break into the opponent’s goal in the 2024/2025 Serie A season.

Previously, Lazio could not score a goal when meeting big-name clubs such as Juventus, Inter Milan, and AS Roma. When facing the three clubs, Lazio suffered defeat. Even when meeting Inter, the club from the Italian capital was slaughtered by six goals without reply.

Venezia, who was able to withstand Lazio’s attacks, will undergo another tough match the following week because they will meet Atalanta, who are more productive and are now in third place in Serie A.
