Watt Reveals Reasons for Retiring from Professional Esports

Supriadi ‘Watt’ Dwi Putra, Dewa United Esports’ veteran goldlaner, has just announced his retirement as a professional player. This decision was made after much consideration, including his future career plans in the Mobile Legends: Bang-Bang (MLBB) esports scene.

Watt is a well-known figure in the Indonesian MLBB esports scene. The player nicknamed ‘Super Awatt’ started his professional career at the end of 2017 when he joined NXL. In his first season with NXL, Watt immediately made history by leading NXL to win the MPL ID Season 1 title, defeating EVOS Legends in the grand finals.

His success in MPL ID S1 made Watt eyed by many professional teams. He had docked in several big MLBB teams, including Aerowolf, ONIC Esports, Louvre, GPX, until finally docking at Dewa United Esports.

With Dewa United Esports, Watt is not only a mainstay goldlaner, but also a mentor figure who protects the young rosters in the team. This is one of Watt’s considerations in deciding to retire as a professional player. He wants to give Dewa United Esports’ talented young players the opportunity to appear in MPL Indonesia.

“Actually, I don’t want to retire yet, but because there are new kids who have great potential, I want to give them the opportunity to regenerate,” said Watt as quoted by DewaUnited.com.

Watt emphasized that regeneration is important for the competitive esports ecosystem. The presence of new talents makes the Indonesian MLBB scene grow and presents new colors in MPL Indonesia.

“In addition, I want the esports scene to be healthier, so that MPL Indonesia doesn’t have the same players,” continued Watt.

Although he has retired as a player, Watt is still open to the possibility of remaining involved in the world of esports, either as a coach, analyst, or other roles.

Hopefully this decision will bring success and happiness to Watt, as well as provide opportunities for young Indonesian talents to shine in the MLBB esports scene!
