Alonso happy at McLaren clarifies Brown

As per the recent talks in the F1 racing segment after Mercedes Team boss Toto Wolff confirming that Alonso can be considered as one of the options to fill the vacant seat by Rosberg’s sudden retirement announcement. After this, there are different stories in both the teams considering a speculation about what the real truth is and how things can turn and take shape after this round of conversation. But one thing is for sure that McLaren has no fears about losing Fernando Alonso to Mercedes after Formula One world champion Nico Rosberg’s sudden retirement, the team’s new executive director Zak Brown said on Monday. Brown said that “We have a contract with Fernando and he’s very happy,” the American told Sky Sports. “Obviously, he wants to be winning races, as do we, but I am not worried about that scenario (leaving).”We are very comfortable where we are at.”

Though it has been a long time that McLaren has not won a single race since 2012 and things have not been really good for the team as they have underperformed since their start of the new racing partnership with Honda in 2015, finishing sixth overall this year and ninth out of 10 teams in 2015. This is a time where the team needs to pull up socks and do something about it as the team is slipping out and lagging behind the top ones in the circuit. With Alonso moving to some other team it would add up to their problems and this is something McLaren would have never expected. Alonso a double world champion with Renault joined McLaren from Ferrari at the end of 2014 and has been disappointed by their lack of success. He is due to partner Belgian rookie Stoffel Vandoorne next year.

Bernie Ecclestone told Reuters last week that Alonso, a teammate of triple world champion Lewis Hamilton at McLaren in 2007, would be his ideal replacement for Rosberg at Mercedes alongside Britain’s Lewis Hamilton. Rosberg announced his retirement from the F1 racing on Friday five days after winning the world title in Abu Dhabi. Mercedes have already begun their search for a new driver with non-executive chairman Niki Lauda saying that at the weekend that he hoped that the most prized seat on the starting grid will be filled by the end of the year. However, Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel four-times world champion has already ruled himself out of this speculation on Sunday.
