Chicago Fire sets Bastian Schweinsteiger to face Montreal Impact

Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to make his American MLS league debut on Saturday night with his new team, Chicago Fire, at Toyota Park. Former German international players could make help Fire, who finished last in the Eastern Conference last season.

Chicago Fire suffered a 4-0 to Atalanta United in their previous game. They are currently at 7th in the Eastern Conference table standings with four points from three games played this season.

Chicago Fire new head coach, Veljko Paunovic admits that his rookie will available on Saturday night against Montreal Impact. “He is available, but I will not tell you what I plan to do. We will talk with him and see how he feels. He has to be ready.” Paunovic told media.

Speaking to the media on his announcing, Schweinsteiger said: “I feel ready, I got ready before coming to Chicago, I need to train with the team of course, but I’m ready to play when the coach will need me.

“I need more training sessions to have the right rhythm, where I want to myself, but my head is more than 100 percent and I feel quite well. This first training was rather intense, but I felt good.

“I’m 32, I feel I can give a lot more, even though it will take a little time for me to reach the level I aspire to.” he added.
