Valentino Rossi: It’s a shame

Movistar Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi could have won a resounding victory at the French Grand Prix. After a great performance, the success stretched out his arms before two errors in view of the arrival. The dream turned into a nightmare, and the disillusion was great. The damage to the championship is also considerable.

The Italian rider, who started second place on the grid, was at the forefront throughout the race. In front of Yamaha Tech3 Johann Zarco, six laps from the finish, Rossi quickly lost his lead and then fell on his team-mate Maverick Vinales slight deviation.

“It’s a shame, because it was probably my best weekend since the start of the season. By Friday I had been competitive, including on the wet, and last Sunday was particularly.” Rossi told media.

“Even if the pace was high, I felt good on the bike, I had a good feeling. At the end of the race I tried to attack. Unfortunately in the last lap, I pulled a little wide at the green garage, which allowed Maverick to lead. But ha was very close and I knew I was fast in the last area, in other words there was still hope.” he added.

The Doctor admitted that the crash was particularly difficult to take because he felt he had been just few corners away from wining. “For sure it is difficult also with Maverick because anyway we have the last part of the racetrack but I was very strong.” Rossi told.

“We do not really understand what happened. Usually you have to pay attention to the front, but here I lost the back. Still, I made a mistake and that’s how it was. It is a pity to leave the circuit without having scored a single point. Above all, I’m sorry I missed a possible victory and lost the lead in the provisional classification. We must now think of the next round where I hope to feel so good.” Rossi added.
