Gennady Golovkin to retire from the ring after his fight against Canelo Alvarez

The unified middleweight champion, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin has revealed the possibility to retire from the ring after his fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on September 16, in Las Vegas.

The unbeaten boxer will take part in his biggest test of his illustrious career that will face the Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez, in what will be one of the biggest fighting to stand in the sport.

However, Golovkin (37-0-0, 33 KOs), is aware that he is approaching the end of his career, but he now insists that he doesn’t feel the effects of I his age a little advanced for a boxer.

“I don’t know. Maybe after this fight, I’ll be finished, maybe not. I feel very good,” Gennady told to media. “Ok, I’m 35 but I feel like I have 25. But this is boxing, not football, it’s not a game, this is a fight and every fight very difficult.

However, despite he had claimed the possibility of a possible retire, Gennady is also open to the prospect of delivering a rematch with Canelo, or even venturing into a trilogy with his opponent.

“I’m ready, I want a trilogy,” Gennady said. “I believe it’s possible. It’s very interesting for me as we have a situation to have a rematch, maybe two or three fights.

“Now, after going 12 rounds distance for the first time against Daniel Jacobs in March, I know I can do it. Before, they asked questions.” Gennady added.

On the other side, Alvarez (49-1-1, 36 KOs), he is enjoying his fight at this time, asked if he is risking his own glory there. “I don’t know, seriously, I remember my fight against Kell Brook, in London, I come to the ring, Couple of rounds [later], ok, applause.” Canelo said.

“For me it doesn’t matter, American guy, Mexican guy, I love sport. We go to the ring for boxing, it’s sport for us, not political. Not ‘I kill you because you’re Mexican’. No, this is crazy. I know Mexican people, the same like UK, everybody understands boxing, everybody loves boxing.” Canelo added.
