Last year, the Catalans had tried to sign the Frenchman to Camp Nou, but he had finally opted for the crossing of the Stade Rennais FC, the Breton club recovering some 15 million euros in this operating. The report adds that Barcelona are confident they will win the race for Dembele’s signature as few other clubs can recruit him. However, speaking to media, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has claimed and denied such talk with the Blaugranas.
“Ousmane Dembele has a long-term contract with us [June 2012], and we count on him, there is no negotiations, he will play for Borussia Dortmund next season,” Zorc said to Sportstalk. “If Dortmund is not contacted by interested clubs, we could initiate a FIFA procedure.” he added.
Barcelona finished at second place in the La Liga standings last season, after Luis Enrique left. They are keen to sign young and talented new players under new manager Ernesto Valverade.
