Valentino Rossi let his heart rule his head in a remarkable moment of fairness at Sunday’s Czech Grand Prix that could ultimately cost him the MotoGP championship.
As Marc Marquez stretched out his arms at Brno circuit to claim his third victory of the season, his main rivals was humbly surrendering the final spot on the podium to his Yamaha team-mate Maverick Vinales.
Marquez, who started the race with a medium-soft wet tyre was error. The reigning champion directly slipped to sixth position. His decision to use a soft rear tire made trouble on a dry track.
However, Rossi made a big mistake. He made his bike turn on the sixth lap with Ducati’s rider Andrea Dovizioso and Yamaha Tech3’s Johan Zarco, when several riders did one lap before.
“The responsibility is not all mine,” Rossi said. “We decided that the boxes would control the sectors of the first to give me references on the blackboard and call me at the right time, since it’s not my best value to figure out when to stop under these conditions but have waited too much with the table and I don’t know why.” Rossi added.
Marquez, who was considered to make errors, led the race with 17 seconds ahead over Scott Redding. While Rossi then slipped to 16th position.
“Making the strategy is difficult, but Marquez is the most cunning and I would be not surprised if he decided to get us all out and then get into the box without seen,” Rossi said. “Honda was good and smart. We are not ready yet, but it would have helped us so much in this race.” the Italian added.
The Doctor tries to see the positive side from Sunday’s battle. However, he admitted he has a little gap on Dovizioso at the table standings than the leaders.
“I usually do 8 to 10, but were unlucky and somewhat arrive, we must become a wiser. In the final I made so many passing. ” Rossi said

“It was good fight with Petrucci, who was always hard, and then in the end I fought with Crutchlow, it was a shame I had lost a few points from Marquez, but I got some of them back on Dovizioso.” he added.
Repsol Honda Marc Marquez leads the overall with 154 points, 14 points ahead of Vinales at second, and 21 points ahead of Dovizioso, while Rossi is fourth with 132 points.
