‘The Notorious’ UFC career earnings and net worth

The meteoric rise of MMA in the last 10 years isn’t only to the credit of UFC superstar Conor McGregor, but the Irish champion is the face of the sport. McGregor has taken the UFC to new heights with his outrageous personality and antics. Much like his Aug. 26 boxing opponent, Floyd Mayweather Jr., McGregor flaunts his considerable wealth and stature in his profession.

Months of obnoxious trash talk between Mayweather and McGregor will be settled Aug. 26. McGregor is up against a boxer who was named the highest-earning athlete in the world in 2012, 2013 and 2015, but the Irish brawler can make a huge financial jump just by getting in the ring against Mayweather.

Let’s take a look at Conor McGregor’s net worth, career earnings, sponsorships and what he stands to make in the ring with Floyd Mayweather.

What is Conor McGregor’s net worth?
McGregor is already the highest-paid athlete in MMA. He ranks 24th on Forbes’ 2017 list of highest-paid athletes with an estimated net worth of $34 million — $7 million in endorsements and $27 million in career earnings from fights.

At least one of those figures will change drastically after McGregor’s fight with Floyd Mayweather. Forbes estimates McGregor will make at least $75 million from the fight, which would be five times as much as he’s made from any UFC fight. That payday would also nearly triple McGregor’s net worth.

McGregor’s sponsorship deals
McGregor recently signed a deal with Beats By Dre and earlier this spring signed a deal with Anheuser-Busch. His endorsement deals add up to $7 million. He has also worked with Rolls Royce, Monster Energy and Bud Light.

How much money has McGregor made in career earnings?
Thanks to McGregor, the UFC and MMA in general have enjoyed great success the last few years. Fights like McGregor vs. Aldo at UFC 194 and McGregor vs. Nate Diaz at UFC 202 made for huge summer events. They also cemented McGregor’s legacy as a champion and introduced a growing fanbase to his dangerous left hook. McGregor has claimed $27 million from these high-profile UFC fights.

How much will McGregor make from the Mayweather fight?
McGregor’s upcoming match against Floyd Mayweather is expected to be the most lucrative event in sports history. Forbes estimated that McGregor will win about $75 million from the fight, win or lose.

The purse for this fight is difficult to estimate, but Mayweather’s 2015 blockbuster against Manny Pacquiao, also at a $99 PPV price point, is a good comparison to draw. The purse for that fight was $300 million and Mayweather came away with about $180 million.

However, Mayweather expects to make about $300 million by fighting McGregor. One extreme estimate even has Mayweather making $400 million with McGregor getting $127 million if all PPV targets are met.
