The Argentine striker had been at a concert in Holland when the taxi he was in careered into a pole while taking him to the airport on Thursday night.
SERGIO AGUERO has suffered two broken ribs after cheating death in a horror car crash in Holland last night.
The Argentine striker, 29, was saved by his seatbelt when the Crysler PT Cruiser he was being driven in to the airport careered head on into a post.
Aguero is facing two months on the sidelines because of broken ribs – in a statement, Man City confirmed he was involved in a road accident and will be assessed on Friday.
He had been in the Netherlands for a pop concert following the Champions League victory at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
Despite facing Premier League rivals and reigning champions Chelsea at the weekend, the £50million-rated City ace went away to see the Colombian pop star Maluma.
Before the show Aguero sent a social media post out saying thanks for the invitation complete with a photo of himself and singer Maluma.
But, just hours later, it appears the taxi he was returning to the airport in collided with a pole – the smash happened in Amsterdam, close to a pedestrian crossing.
The airbags were deployed and no other car appears to be involved from the photos available.
Manchester City have confirmed that the striker was involved in a road accident.
The news comes as a further blow for Pep Guardiola, after they revealed that £52million summer signing Benjamin Mendy is facing nine months out with an ACL knee injury.
Aguero’s stunning partner Karina Tejeda was not involved in the crash and is not thought to have travelled to Amsterdam with the striker.
Dutch police have revealed that two people were injured and taken to hospital, but would not confirm their names.
The 29-year-old father is believed to be one of the players taken for medical attention and his former club have sent their support.
Independiente, tweeted a photo of Aguero with the words: “Strength and prompt recovery. Everyone @ Independiente is with you in this difficult moment.”
