LA Lakers presented a beautiful gift to the late Kobe Bryant by becoming the 2020 NBA champion. Lakers won the 17th NBA after defeating Miami Heat 4-2.
Prior to winning the 2020 season, Lakers endured a long title fast, nearly a decade since they last lifted the NBA trophy in the 2010 season.
After winning in 2010, it was hard for Lakers. Especially in the 2014 to 2019 season, Lakers failed to enter the top 8 of the West or qualify for the play-offs. Without appearing in the play-offs, the chances of winning will automatically disappear.
Lakers nurtured the desire to win the NBA again in the 2019/2020 season. However, it was tough for Lakers last season when one of their best legends, Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.
Kobe died with his daughter, Gianna and other passengers on the helicopter while on his way to Mamba Academy, January 26, 2020.
However, the sad news did not bring Lakers into grief. Frank Vogel’s team continued to look charming until they finally stepped into the play-offs as champions of the Western region.
In the first half Lakers overthrew the Portland Trail Blaxers 4-1, then eliminated the Houston Rockets 4-1 in the regional semifinals.
Before reaching the 2020 NBA Finals, Lakers overthrew Denver Nuggets 4-1. In the NBA finals Lakers were challenged by Miami Heat. LeBron James and his friends finally won 4-2 and won the 17th NBA.
The 2020 NBA title means a lot to Lakers. Not only because it was achieved during difficult times due to the corona virus pandemic, but also after the death of Kobe Bryant.
The NBA 2020 is a beautiful gift for Lakers for Kobe Bryant, who has presented 5 titles. In addition, the trophy ended Lakers’ title drought in the previous nine seasons.
In fact, Lakers power forward Anthony Davis believes the 2020 NBA title will make Kobe Bryant proud.
“I know he must have looked at us with pride. I know Vanessa [Bryant] is proud of us, the organization is proud of us. This means a lot to us. He is like a big brother to all of us, and we are doing this for him,” Davis said.
According to Davis, Kobe Bryant was Lakers’ source of inspiration for the remainder of the 2019/2020 season. Lakers reportedly poured the inspiration into their costumes through special emblems.
When in the play-offs, Lakers also introduced a special ‘Black Mamba’ costume with black dominance as a tribute to Kobe Bryant.
