AC Milan Closed Pre-Season: 20 Goals, Lotus-Cheek Well Perform

AC Milan closed the series of pre-season trials with a 4-2 win over Novara. In a total of eight exhibition matches, the Rossoneri scored 20 goals. Milan started pre-season with a 7-0 win over Lumezzane in the warm-up game. After that, Rafael Leao and friends left for the United States to take part in the Soccer Champions Tour tournament with European giants. In the Soccer Champions Tour, Milan faced Real Madrid (2-3), Juventus (2-2; 5-6 on penalties), and Barcelona (0-1).

After returning from Uncle Sam’s country, Milan’s agenda is to face Monza in the inaugural edition of the Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi, Tuesday (8/8/2023). The game finished with a score of 1-1. The Rossoneri lifted the trophy after beating Monza via penalties 6-5.

A day later, Wednesday (9/8/2023) Milan, who played a lot of substitutes, was surprised by the Serie C team, Trento, at the Milanello training center. Rossoneri lost 0-1. Milan then returned to winning ways in a practice match against the Tunisian club, Etoile du Sahel, which ended 4-0, Saturday (12/8/2023). Ruben Loftus-Cheek became a star with a hat trick. The preparation period for the club alias Il Rossoneri ahead of the 2023-2024 season closed with a 4-2 win over Serie C contestants, Novara, at Milanello, Sunday (13/8/2023).

Milan won thanks to goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Noah Okafor, Davide Calabria and Lorenzo Colombo. In total, Milan produced 20 goals in eight pre-season trial parties. Average 2.5 goals per game.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and academy graduate, Lorenzo Colombo, were the Rossoneri’s top pre-season players, scoring three goals each. Meanwhile, Tommaso Pobega, Luka Romero and Olivier Giroud both closed the pre-season with a collection of two goals.

There is still about a week left for Milan to reflect on what happened during pre-season. Milan will visit Bologna headquarters in the first week of Serie A Italian League, Tuesday (22/8/2023).

The back line report should be of concern to Milan. Because the Rossoneri have suffered 10 goals in eight pre-season matches. Of all the warm-up parties, only two have succeeded in closing Milan with a record without conceding a goal against their opponent, namely when they met Lumezzane and Etoile du Sahel.

The Rossoneri are also still showing uncertainty in anticipating set-piece situations. The match against Juventus in the Soccer Champions Tour is proof. At that time, the Milan goal was broken by Danilo and Daniele Rugani. A pair of Juventus goals came from corner kicks and free kicks.
