AC Milan legend Filippo Inzaghi is nicknamed the ghost striker

Why AC Milan legend Filippo Inzaghi is nicknamed the ghost striker will be discussed here. Many of the world’s top footballers have special nicknames. The nickname comes from their name, habits or playing ability.

It’s the same with Filippo Inzaghi, a legendary striker for AC Milan and the Italian national team. When he was still active as a footballer, Inzaghi was often called a ghost striker by his opponents.

Reporting from various sources, Inzaghi often acts as a goal machine for the club he defends. He got the nickname ghost because Inzaghi could suddenly appear in front of the goalkeeper without any escort and scored a goal with ease.

This was even confirmed by Oliver Kahn, one of the legendary goalkeepers of Bayern Munich and the German national team. Kahn even thought of Inzaghi as a frightening spectre. The goalkeeper, who has a frightening face and a large body, seems to have lost his skills when dealing with Inzaghi.

“I’ve played against Ronaldo whose speed, athletic quality and ability to score goals from any situation makes him brilliant,” Oliver Kahn told UEFA.

“I’ve also played against Thierry Henry, an extraordinary striker. Slick, elegant and very, very clever in front of goal. But the attacker I most don’t want to play against is Inzaghi,” he continued.

The striker, who is also nicknamed Super Pippo, apparently has faced Oliver Kahn six times. Of the six meetings, Inzaghi managed to break into Oliver Kahn’s goal four times.

“He’s a very difficult striker and maybe the one I least want to play against. Because he’s so unpredictable.” he continued. The ghost striker himself has now hung up his boots and continued his career as a football manager. Before retiring, Inzaghi had a Juventus uniform and won the Italian League, Italian Super Cup and UEFA Intertoto Cup.

Meanwhile, when he was with AC Milan, he also won the Italian League, Champions League and European Super Cup. He also won a Coppa Italia title and the Club World Cup. That’s why AC Milan legend Filippo Inzaghi is nicknamed the ghost striker.
