Adrian Mannarino French tennis player successfully knocked out Jan Lennard Struff 7-6, 6-3 to advance to the second round of the 2021 Mallorca Championships season.
World number 42 Mannarino saved all four of the break points he faced and won 61 percent of points on his second serve against German Lennard Struff as he started the ATP level 250 tournament, the Mallorca Championships first edition.
Lennard Struff last week knocked out world number 7 Andrey Rublev at last week’s Halle Open (Noventi Open), but he could not overcome the onslaught of 32-year-old Mannarino who will now duel against second seed Dominic Thiem in the second round.

In other action, Australian Jordan Thompson fought hard to secure a match point opportunity to beat Spaniard Pablo Andujar 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 in 2 hours 26 minutes.
World number 81 Thompson fired 14 aces and saved one match point at 4-5 in the second set. Thanks to his hard work, Thompson will now meet the Slovak tennis player, Lukas Klein.
23-year-old qualifier Klein surprisingly beat eighth seed Dusan Lajovic 6-4, 7-6.
Meanwhile, American Tennys Sandgren was ahead of host Jaume Munar 7-6, 2-1 before the match was postponed after the court was too slippery due to the humidity of the grass on the court.
Sandgren, in his first game on grass of the season, hit seven aces and saved one break point he faced before claiming the first set.
After the match resumed, both players returned to play fiercely before Sandgren finally picked up a tight victory 7-6, 7-5.
Sandgren booked his Mallorca Championships second round match of the season against fifth seed Casper Ruud.
Norway’s Ruud also had to go through a tiebreak before eliminating Mannarino’s compatriot Gilles Simon 6-4, 7-6.
Another French tennis player, Corentin Moutet managed to follow in Mannarino’s footsteps towards the second round of the Mallorca Championships.
Moutet had to prepare well to face first seed Daniil Medvedev in the second round with a convincing 6-4, 6-2 win over South African Lloyd Harris.
