Adrien Rabiot continues to remain a mysterious object of the Juventus squad. The French midfielder joined the Bianconeri in the summer on a free transfer from PSG.
Rabiot has one of the heaviest salaries of the squad. He earns 7 million euros plus 2 bonuses per season, behind Cristiano Ronaldo, De Ligt, Higuain and Paulo Dybala.
The 24-year-old midfielder has played four league games so far, plus 12 minutes in the Champions League, without ever shining. According to reports, Maurizio Sarri would be evaluating Rabiot’s situation in view of the next winter transfer market session.
Speaking in an interview with Italian reporters earlier this month, French international and central midfielder Blaise Matuidi sought to explain compatriot Rabiot’s slow start to life at their club Juventus.
“We must not forget that he has come out of a season where he did not play in the second half. It was difficult for him. He had a good pre-season.” Matuidi said.
“I don’t see him as a rival, he’s my teammate and we fight together. It is normal for there to be competition, but we will all have space and I hope that Adrien will help us do great things, then I have a special relationship with him, I played with him for many years and we know each other very well.
“We always talk, both during training and off the field. At first he did not understand Italian, I tried to help him, but now he has improved a lot because he has taken lessons.
“In training, he is concentrating on what he has to do. He is discovering a new league, it is never easy. There is competition. But Adrien will bring his stone to the building. He is maybe not at the number of matches which he had hoped to be at but he will get his chance to play. We are counting on him.” Matuidi added.
There are rumours saying that Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Rabiot in January.
