Adrien Rabiot has admitted for the first time that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in this summer’s transfer window as he wants to play at a new club.
The French midfielder has been strongly linked with the likes of LaLiga giant Barcelona and Premier League clubs Manchester United this summer, but the PSG have been firm that they won’t sell.
Rabiot is a product of PSG’s academy system, but spent a brief period in England at Liverpool while in his teens. He is a France international and a regular part of the PSG set-up, but unpleasant competition for places at PSG.
“I think I would like to experience something else. There are a lot of very good championships, it’s also very rewarding to go elsewhere.” Rabiot told to the Catalan press.
“I would love to play in the Premier League, not necessarily one club in particular, even though I was very fond of Liverpool when I was young.” Rabiot added.
Rabiot has previously only hinted that he wants to leave PSG, while Thomas Tuchel has recently suggested he’s growing in confidence over keeping the player at the Parc des Princes in the summer.
According to reports, Tuchel and Rabiot had a discussion at the time of the recovery earlier this month and the German would have indicated his willingness to use the player in this role, without pushes Rabiot at the beginning.
As proof, Tuchel sent a strong signal to the Parisan by giving him the captain’s armband against Bayern Munich, before being very explicit after the match in a press conference.
“Do I want to keep Rabiot? Of course I would love him to stay. You can see the potential that boy has. And he has not even reached his limits yet,” Tuchel told to Le’Equipe.
“In relation to his contract situation, he’s the one who has the last word. Everything depends on him. He can stay and adapt to our style or leave the club and try a new experience.” Tuchel added.

Rabiot has made over 200 appearances for PSG since making a senior breakthrough in 2012. He has helped the club to 14 major honours, including four Ligue 1 titles. Last season, he has scored only one goal and 5 assists in 33 appearances for the club.
