An Se Young has been awaited by many people since her arrival in South Korea. She emphasized that she had no intention of causing a fuss with the Korean Badminton Association (BKA).
An Se Young has become many people’s foucs after uttering words of disappointment towards the BKA. Therefore, her return to South Korea has been awaited by many parties.
In addition to her achievement in winning a gold medal, An Se Young’s return is also awaited because of the current conflict with the BKA.
“First, what I want to say is that I have no intention of causing a fuss, but I want to fight for my passion to focus on this sport,” said An Se Young as quoted by Naver.
An Se Young then stated that she would first speak with the BKA before returning to give a statement to the media and public.
“I just arrived here. I haven’t arranged it [the meeting schedule]. I will talk about it and after that I will give you a statement,” An Se Young added.
An Se Young successfully won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. An Se Young ended her gold medal drought in badminton since 2018 and became the second women’s singles player from South Korea to win the Olympics after Bang Soo Hyun in Atlanta 1996.
However, in a press conference after winning, An Se Young immediately expressed her disappointment with the BKA. The disappointment was related to the handling of the injury that An Se Young felt was not optimal. This also disrupted An Se Young’s preparations for the Olympics.
Shortly after, the BKA began to speak up regarding An Se Young’s controversial protest after winning the women’s singles gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Naver reported that the BKA denied An Se Young’s statement. According to the BKA, they had worked optimally to recover from the injury suffered by the athlete.
