After Debuting With Real Madrid, Courtois Tease Chelsea

Real Madrid’s new goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois teases his former club Chelsea. He called the level of the Blues still under Los Blancos. Courtois made his debut with Madrid with joy after ending the match with a 4-1 victory over Leganes at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday (2/4).

After the match, the Belgium international goalkeeper gave a comment that could make Chelsea fans hot. He called El Real far ahead of Chelsea.

“In training sessions, you can see that the level at Real Madrid is high. Now I have experience every day that Sergio Ramos is the best center back in the world. The level at Real Madrid is higher than at Chelsea,” Courtois was quoted as saying by Bleacher Report.

Fans took to Twitter to voice their anger.

Referring to Man United’s goalkeeper, one quipped: “Always knew De Gea was better anyway.”

While another added: “I pray that Messi nutmegs you relentlessly. That’s if you can ever get into the starting line-up.”

One Chelsea fan wrote: “This is utterly disrespectful. You know you probably wouldn’t be who you are now if it wasn’t for Chelsea.”

Not only about the level of the game, the 26-year-old goalkeeper tells of a different atmosphere between Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and Stamford Bridge.

“The Bernabeu stadium is also twice as big (from Stamford Bridge), of course this is a different feeling,” he said.

“If you look forward you only see a wall of people, while at Stamford Bridge you can still see the sky or the hotel behind the grandstand.” He added.

Real Madrid are currently ranked second in the Spanish La Liga standings under their rivals, Barcelona. Both teams are equally perfect points, nine points from three matches. It’s just that Barcelona are ahead on goal difference.

Chelsea also have no problem means without Courtois. So far the new goalkeeper of the Blues, Kepa Arrizabalaga, performed beautifully and successfully led Chelsea to win four wins without defeat at the start of the English Premier League season.

Before move to Real Madrid, the 26-year-old stopper went AWOL at Chelsea to force a move to Real Madrid. He eventually got his way, sealing a £35 million transfer to the Champions League holders and the Blues fans were angry at how he conducted himself.

The former Racing Genk stopper deleted an instagram post when he moved in which he thanked the club and fans ahead of his move away. It was inundated with Chelsea fans bitter at the goalkeeper for forcing a move to Madrid.
