After just 37 days in charge of Barcelona, Ronald Koeman already wants to leave the Estadio Camp Nou. According to Marca’s report, Koeman told his colleagues that he was no longer at ease with Barcelona.
So, what is the reason why Koeman wants to leave Barcelona? Still according to Marca, Koeman wants to leave because the policy made by the Blaugrana board of directors – the nickname Barcelona – gives him a headache.
When he was appointed coach of Barcelona on August 19, 2020, an agreement was made by Koeman with the president of Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu. In the agreement, all transfer decisions are held by the sporting director, Ramon Planes.
However, Planes who stepped in to replace Eric Abidal took an unpopular move. So far, Planes has released three players who last season became Barcelona’s mainstay players.
Planes released Nelson Semedo to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Luis Suarez (Atletico Madrid) and Arturo Vidal (Inter Milan). In addition, Planes also released Ivan Rakitic to Seville. However, unfortunately the Barcelona management did not seem serious about replacing the departures of the above names.
Barcelona’s management has so far only signed young players such as Pedri, 17, and Francisco Trincao (20). It is true, Barcelona brought Miralem Pjanic (30) from Juventus, but the agreement was made when Abidal was still the Blaugrana director.
The conditions above made Koeman no longer feel at home with Barcelona. Moreover, Koeman’s request to bring in his target players has not been fulfilled by Barcelona’s management.
For your information, Koeman asked Barcelona to bring in two of his former foster children to the Dutch National Team, Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool) and Memphis Depay (Olympique Lyon). However, until now the two names above are still in their respective clubs.
However, apart from that Koeman will lead the Barcelona squad for their first competitive match of the season. The plan is that on Monday, September 28, 2020, WIB, Barcelona will host Villarreal.
The victory in this match is a target for Barcelona. Because, victory can boost the confidence of Lionel Messi and his friends to win the Spanish League trophy, a title that Real Madrid won last season from their hands.
