Red Sparks has the possibilty to surpass last season’s achievement when facing AI Peppers in the fifth match of the fifth round of the Korean Volleyball League at Yeomju Gymnasium, Wednesday (2/19/2025).
Last season, Red Sparks collected 61 points from 20 wins and suffered 16 losses in the regular round.
The number of wins is the same as Yeum Hye Seon and her friends’ achievements this season. After playing 28 matches, Red Sparks have won 20 with 55 points.
A win over AI Peppers will make Red Sparks surpass last season’s winning achievement.
According to the KOVO site, by achieving 20 wins before the regular season ends, the set win ratio this season is better than before, which is 1.56 compared to 1.18.
In the 2023/2024 Korean Volleyball League, Red Sparks bagged 20 wins and finished in third place in the final regular standings. This achievement made Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi et al qualify for the semifinal playoffs for the first time in seven years.
Currently, with 20 wins and 55 points, Red Sparks is still trying to reach second place in the final regular standings.
Based on the calculations on paper, Red Sparks can also still displace Pink Spiders as the leader of the temporary standings.
Currently, Red Sparks is 15 points behind Pink Spiders. Last season’s runner-up has played 29 matches, while Red Sparks has only played 28 times.
With 8 matches remaining until the sixth round, Red Sparks has the opportunity to collect a maximum of 73 points.
However, Red Sparks’ efforts to become regular season champions are not easy. In addition to having to sweep all 8 matches with wins, the Red Sparks also need to hope that the Pink Spiders at least lose and Hillstate fails to do its best in the remaining matches.
