Aguero Path to Break Jamie Vardy’s Record

There is a steep road that Sergio Aguero has to go through if he wants to break Jamie Vardy’s record in the Premier League. Sergio Aguero is now trying to break Jamie Vardy’s record in creating goals in 11 consecutive Premier League matches.

Vardy set this record in the 2015-2016 season when he led Leicester City to become Premier League champions. At that time Vardy broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record with Manchester United. He managed to produce a goal in 10 straight matches in 2003.

Uniquely, Vardy scored in his 11th match against Manchester United in November 2015. Now the record is what Aguero will try to break with Manchester City.

The man from Argentina had a slick record earlier this season. He always scored in six matches earlier. Even so, there are various obstacle waiting for Aguero.

This weekend they will visit to Everton’s cage. Although Everton is in a bad shape and Aguero is being sharp, scoring goals is not an easy matter.

Aguero only scored two goals in 13 matches against Everton. This is Aguero’s worst ratio of all opponents in the Premier League. The last he scored against Merseyside Blue was in 2014.

After that he and his colleagues will host Wolverhampton Wanderers (1 goal in 4 matches) then visit Crystal Palace. Last season, Palace became one of the teams that can beat City.

Aguero only scored three goals in nine games against the Eagles. After the three teams, the next three teams are also not Aguero’s favorite opponents.

Man City will host Aston Villa, Southampton (4 goals in 11 matches), then travel to Liverpool headquarters. Anfileld will be the place where Aguero breaks Vardy’s record if he can overcome all previous obstacles.

The problem is, Aguero has never scored a goal at Anfield. Reported from the official Premier League statistics, Aguero scores once every 1.42 matches.

Even so, if it is only averaged for the next five Man City opponents, the average goal decreases to 3.36 once.

The 31 years old began his career at began his career at Independiente. On 5 July 2003, he became the youngest player to play in the Argentine Primera División on his debut at 15 years and 35 days, breaking the record previously established by Diego Maradona in 1976. Now he is the striker for Argentina’s national team as well as Manchester City.
