Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer believes that other teams are not contender this season, and either Liverpool or Manchester City will be the champions.
“The top of the Premier League could not be much tighter, with only two points separating the top five teams, but I still cannot see beyond a two-horse title race between Manchester City and Liverpool.” Shearer said.
“Both managers approached the game as if it was an important one in the title race. Clearly, from the way they set up, neither of them wanted to be beaten, rather than both gong looking for the win.
“That made it a totally different game to their meetings last season. Yes it made for a drab game this time, but their real battle is only just beginning.
“Manchester City’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool last weekend, I think Guardiola and Klopp are very important to see this game, they do not want to fail, and did not fully strive to win.” Shearer added,
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur played very impressive last weekend. But Shearer believes both teams cannot challenge the Premier League champions.
“First of all, Arsenal’s 6-game winning streak is impressive. They played Fulham and played very well. But I think Arsenal can’t challenge the championship. Also, I’m not sure they can. No, finally enter the top four.” Shearer said.

“Tottenham has met a very difficult schedule from the beginning of September to the present, and they have already set the best start for the 2016/17 season. Tottenham is worrying about their lineup, I wonder if there is enough depth to match Manchester City and Liverpool.
“Manchester United is currently 8th place, like Arsenal. I don’t think they can compete. Of course, I didn’t expect to say this after 8 games. Before the start of the season, I thought Manchester United and Liverpool would threaten Manchester City. It seems that Mourinho’s team is still far behind. I think their goal should be the top 4 in the league.
“Generally speaking, after the league played 8-10 rounds, everything is basically formed. Currently Chelsea is the only one that can shake Manchester City and Liverpool.” Shearer said.
“Though for that to happen, a lot depends on Eden Hazard. They still have a gap with City and Liverpool, but if Hazard stays fit and continues to be in the current state, the Blues can approach their level.” the 48-year-old man added.
