Alejandro Garnacho is back to stealing the show. The young Manchester United star became the player in the victory for Erik ten Hag’s team against West Ham United in the last 16 of the FA Cup, Thursday (2/3/2023).
Alejandro Garnacho scored in the 90th minute in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over West Ham United. The young Argentine star’s goal was very important because if the match ended in a draw, Manchester United would need to have a replay at home to West Ham United.
The best player of the match award was also given to Alejandro Garnacho for his impact on Manchester United’s game. At the age of 18, many people predict that this young player can become the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
However, Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag does not want to talk too much about Alejandro Garnacho’s potential. The Dutchman wants his young players to take it step by step at the start of their football career.
“I saw another step today,” said Erik ten Hag about Alejandro Garnacho, quoted by the Daily Mail, Thursday (2/3/2023).
“I told him before the game ‘It’s time you make an impact when you come on (off the bench), but now you have to make an impact as a starter’,” added the former Ajax boss.
The Manchester United vs West Ham match in the 2022-2023 FA Cup is the 10th match Alejandro Garnacho has been given the chance to start from the start. Erik ten Hag’s trust was fully paid for by the player by scoring goals and playing well during the match.
Alejandro Garnacho’s physical abilities, which were so prime at a young age, also received praise from Erik ten Hag. If he continues to improve his quality, Manchester United’s starting position will not be separated from the 18-year-old winger.
“He is fast and has pace, he can keep running for 90 minutes or 120 minutes,” continued Erik ten Hag, commenting on the player who has made two goals and two assists in 13 appearances in the 2022-2023 Premier League.
So far in the 2022-23 season, Alejandro Garnacho has made 27 appearances for the Manchester United first team. The player born in Madrid, Spain, recorded four goals and five assists in all competitions this season.
Alejandro Garnacho is shining brightly at such a young age but as Erik ten Hag has said, there is still another step the player needs to make. Moreover, to become the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United, it takes consistency and hard work to become the successor to the superstar.
