Dutch media, Voetbal Primeur, revealed that Heerenveen failed to get Alex Pastoor’s services as a replacement for Robin van Persie because he had joined the Indonesian National Team coaching team.
“SC Heerenveen made a futile attempt to bring Alex Pastoor to Friesland! Leeuwarder Courant reported this on Sunday (23/2/2025) evening,” wrote Voetbal Primeur in its report.
“Heerenveen sees him as a candidate to succeed Robin van Persie, who moved to Feyenoord, but Pastoor has just started his career as an assistant coach for the Indonesian National Team,” wrote Voetbal Primeur.
In its article, Voetbal Primeur revealed that Heerenveen had approached Alex Pastoor in the past few days.
“Heerenveen has made inquiries with Pastoor in the past few days,” wrote Voetbal Primeur.
“Heerenveen’s Technical Director Johan Hansma had worked very successfully with Pastoor at Almere City, and sees him as a suitable successor to Van Persie,” Voetbal Primeur added.
Pastoor is considered suitable to handle Heerenveen because of his experience as a points-scoring coach.
“Why [Alex Pastoor]? Because he is a good coach for his players and has experience as a points-scoring coach,” said Voetbal Primeur.
“Pastoor did nothing else last season with Almere City, where he surprisingly managed to get promoted to the Eredivisie a year earlier and then retained his position in an impressive manner,” said Voetbal Primeur.
In addition, Pastoor is also considered to know Heerenveen because he has defended the club as a player and assistant coach.
“Moreover, the 58-year-old coach knows the Heerenveen club well. As a footballer, he wore the shirt for two years, and he was also an assistant coach for two years,” wrote Voetbal Primeur.
“However, the coach kindly declined Heerenveen’s offer. He recently became Indonesia’s assistant coach and is busy working as an analyst on TV,” Voetbal Primeur added.
