One more Premier League player moved to the Saudi Arabian League. This time it was the turn of Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin to join Al Ahli.
The certainty of the transfer was announced by Al Ahli, Monday (31/7/2023) in the morning after paying 30 million pounds to Newcastle. Saint-Maximin contract three years.
The French winger ended his four years with Newcastle. He joined Newcastle in 2019 from Nice and has contributed 13 goals in 124 matches.
Unfortunately, Saint-Maximin’s career has recently been plagued by injuries, causing his performance to decline and fans often criticizing him. Apart from that, Saint-Maximin’s move came under sharp scrutiny because Newcastle and Al-Ahli are actually still under the same umbrella, namely the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
“Everyone at Newcastle is grateful for Allan’s contribution to the club and to society. We wish him all the best for his future career,” said a Newcastle statement.
Saint-Maximin became the fourth purchase of Al-Ahli, who had just been promoted to the Saudi Arabian League from the second division. Previously, Al Ahli brought in Roberto Firmino, Edouard Mendy and Riyad Mahrez.
Riyad Mahrez has officially been recruited by Al Ahli from Manchester City. Mahrez’s five years of service to defend The Citizens have ended.
Reporting from the Mirror, Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli officially got Riyad Mahrez. The winger from Algeria was redeemed for 30 million Euros.
Riyad Mahrez will wear the Al Expert uniform until the summer of 2027. The 32-year-old player has recorded gold ink with Manchester City and Leicester City in the Premier League.
Mahrez became part of Leicester winning the Premier League in 2016. Continuing at Man City, Mahrez also won four Premier League championship titles, won the FA Cup twice, won the Carabao Cup three times, and most recently won the Champions League title.
Manchester City has also posted a farewell photo with Riyadh Mahrez. Without a doubt, Mahrez has become an important part of City by making 236 appearances in all competitions and scoring 78 goals and 59 assists.
The club nicknamed Al Malaki alias Kingdom has also signed former RB Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle as the new captain.
