Allegri Advised to Remove Ronaldo from Juventus

The former Juventus coach, Massimiliano Allegri, said Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence had hindered the growth of the team and the club. Based on these thoughts, Massimiliano Allegri advised Juventus President, Andrea Agnelli, to remove Cristiano Ronaldo from the Bianconeri squad.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s career journey with Juventus is shaky following the team’s performance that is far from expectations. This season, Juventus again failed to complete its mission to become king of Europe by winning the Champions League. In fact, they were only able to reach the last 16 after being knocked out by Portugal’s representatives, FC Porto.

This result is not in accordance with Juventus’ goals when bringing Ronaldo from Real Madrid at the start of the 2018-2019 season. Juventus is said to have brought Ronaldo to win the Champions League. However, since Ronaldo joined, Juventus have not won the most prestigious club competition in the European Continent.

The failure in the Champions League was then exacerbated by Juventus’ position in the Serie A standings, the highest caste of the Italian League, for the 2020-2021 season. Currently, Juventus is still stuck in third place with a collection of 62 points from 30 matches. They are 12 points behind Inter Milan, who leads the standings with 74 points. Seeing the difference in points, Juventus, who have won the Scudetto for nine consecutive seasons, are threatened with failing to continue their dominance on the Italian League stage.

In the midst of a difficult situation for Juventus, Massimiliano Allegri sent a scathing sentence regarding Ronaldo. Based on reports from the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Allegri advised Juventus President, Andrea Agnelli, to get rid of Ronaldo from the squad. “Getting rid of Ronaldo, he is hindering the growth of the team and the club,” Allegri said.

Allegri’s view of Ronaldo’s presence is in line with the statement of one of the former players who had a long career in the Italian League, Antonio Cassano. Antonio Cassano once said that Ronaldo only added to the burden on the current Juventus coach, Andrea Pirlo.

“Given that Juventus chose Pirlo after what happened to Maurizio Sarri, a coach who offers a philosophy of play, keeping the current version of Ronaldo is a mistake. Ronaldo is no longer the same player as three or four years ago. New ammunition is needed to build the team that Pirlo wants,” added Cassano.

Ronaldo’s contract with Juventus actually ends at the end of June 2022. However, Calcio Mercato reports that the Portuguese superstar will meet with club officials after the 2020-2021 season ends. Reportedly, the meeting will be held to discuss Ronaldo’s future at Juventus. Reporting by a similar source, Juventus is ready to release Ronaldo, although there are several aspects that still need to be considered.
