In one of the biggest acquisitions of the 2023 footballing season, Liverpool FC has officially signed Argentina World Cup winning midfielder Mac Allister to strengthen their already star studded line up.
Allister’s switch from Brighton to Liverpool has got the fans going GAGA, as they now anticipate a great show by the midfielder who showcased his superb skills during the 2022 FIFA World Cup and aided Argentina to win the gold in a fiercely fought finale against defending champions France.
While the period of his tenure with Liverpool is not yet officially confirmed, some inside sources are guessing that he will be with the Reds till 2028. The news was confirmed through ESPN, who reported that Liverpool will be finalizing a deal with the 24-year-old midfielder before he joins Argentina ahead of their friendly clash against Australia on June 15 in China.
Liverpool had been earlier routing to get Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, but have now shifted their focus on getting in Allister, dedicated to rebuilding a solid squad after having failed to qualify for the Champions League this time, for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
Mac Allister is the first major signing by the club under new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke, who has joined Liverpool after his previous spells with Wolfsburg, Cologne and Hannover. The club is now focusing on forming a tough team for the next Champions League season and other key tournaments.
Allister had a fairytale run in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he scored important goals for the team, especially during Argentina’s 2-0 win over Poland in the group stage, and now he will be sporting the Red #10 Jersey for the Liverpool side.
If sources are to be believed, then Liverpool is also showing keen interest in getting Nice’s Khephren Thuram, Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes, and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone into the squad. If they can pull it off, then they will have some major guns going in their “Arsenal”!
