Alonso: “I feel better than the others”

Alonso motivated

Fernando Alonso, Alpine F1 team, shows his motivation to remain in Formula 1. He is looking for someone better than himself on comparison of “pure abilities”. He look forward to keep on racing “because I feel better than the others”.

Alonso, two-time F1 world champion, return to the F1 sport last year. He returned with his championship wining team, Alpine then called Renault. He remained out of f1 for two seasons.

Alonso managed to secure a podium since 2014 at Qatar Grand Prix last year. He remained frustrated for not having a good luck to secure a pole this year at Australia.

The Spanish driver is the oldest one, 40 years old, on the F1 grid. Nonetheless, he showed his interest to remain the sport beyond this season after his contract expiration with Alpine this year.

He remained in hot waters of bad luck, where he was sidelined in qualifying at Australia due to hydraulic failure. His agony was increased when Mick Schumacher damaged his car which ended his race at Imola.

Nonetheless, he intend to remain in F1 despite bad lucks. He answered a question about his motivation to remain in F1.

Alonso replied: “Because I feel better than the others.

“When someone comes and I see that [they are] beating me on pure abilities. I see that I’m not good anymore at the starts. I’m not good in preparing the car, or the other side of the garage is one second faster than me. I cannot match those times, maybe I’ll raise my hand and say: ‘You know, this is time for me you know to think about something else’.

“But at the moment, I feel the opposite. I love racing.”

Esteban Ocon, Alonso’s Alpine team mate, fetched 20 points so far for the team. The Spaniard scored only two points so far thanks to his “painful” bad luck. Ocon’s long term contract with the Alpine team will expire at the end of 2024 season.

The team has reserved Oscar Piastri as a reserve driver. He won last year Formula 2 drivers championship. He look forward to secure a place at Formula 1 next year.

Alpine is ready to make a place for him even if it have to lend him out.
