Everton coach Carlo Ancelotti called the match against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Saturday (17/10) tonight to be the real test for the Toffees.
Liverpool 2-7 defeat to Aston Villa does not mean Everton will win easily. On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp’s side are still a good and strong team.
While Everton were perfect in the first four matches and now perched at the top of the standings, they are still far from Liverpool from all sides.
“Liverpool are doing very well. I don’t think we thought we could go this far, but we are still far from them. We can have a good test against them on Saturday to see how far we are,” said the Italian coach, quoted by Skysport.
Ancelotti did not deny Liverpool’s strength in Klopp’s hands. The Reds were transformed into a very scary team, especially in last season where they came out as champions.
“They are the best, they were the best last season and one of the best teams in the world. So this is a fantastic challenge,” said the former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach.
For that, Ancelotti can’t wait to have a strategy against Klopp, who he considers a close friend.
“I feel good when I am with him. We don’t have much time to talk because we are very busy, but every time we meet we have a good time,” he said.
“He is an extraordinary man. He gives me a lot of energy when I am with him. I really respect him. It’s an honor for me to be considered his friend.”
Everton and Liverpool meet at Goodison Park Stadium, Saturday (17/10) tonight.
Currently Everton are in power in the standings after achieving perfect results from four matches.
Meanwhile, Liverpool tried to get up after being devastated after losing 2-7 to Aston Villa.
Even so on a head to head basis, Everton are looking for their first win against Liverpool since 2010. They have drawn 11 times and lost eight times. Overall, Everton have not even been able to win over Liverpool in 22 matches in all competitions. This record is Liverpool’s best record against a club.
