Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. has revealed Luis Ortiz as a possible opponent for a big fight at the end of 2020.
Ruiz Ortiz is looking to resume his career on the right track after losing all his belts to the Briton Anthony Joshua in a December rematch, the “Destroyer” hopes to return in the fall season.
“I did speak to Al and he told with whether I wanted to pick this one or that one. I did say yes because I want to fight in August.” Ruiz said.
“There are a few guys out there, and they mentioned Luis Ortiz as well. But I think I want to have a fight before I fight Ortiz to get back in the rhythm, back in the routine.
“Everybody is talking about me and Ortiz. It will be a great fight. If not, if Tyson Fury is looking for somebody? “I just want to get a fight and then (see what happens) after that.” Ruiz added.
When asked if Joshua was possible for a trilogy, Ruiz replied, “There is something like that, but I hope we can negotiate and fight by the end of this year.”
Ruiz beat Anthony Joshua through his ability to absorb a massive left hook to the chin, which floored Andy in the 3rd for the first time in his career. He’s a super tough man.
The Mexican-American fought an extremely smart fight. After the 3rd he took his time and respected Joshua’s power. He didn’t go for the kill because a wounded animal is dangerous. He was patient because he knew opportunities would come.
However, back in December, Joshua beat Ruiz rematch by unanimous decision with beautiful boxing performance to regain heavyweight world titles.
Ortiz on the other hand, he lost to former WBC champion Deontay Wilder with single punch in round 7 of heavyweight rematch back in November.
