Ansu Fati undergone a regenerative biological treatment to favor the recovery process of the tear of the internal meniscus of the left knee that forced him to go through the operating room.
The Barca forward was injured last November and had to undergo surgery. This surgical intervention was also in the hands of Dr. Cugat and the latest reports speak of a recovery as planned, classifying it as very satisfactory.
The Catalan club itself issued an official statement explaining the forward’s recovery process.
“First team player Ansu Fati has undergone a regenerative biological treatment by doctor Ramon Cugat under the supervision of the Club’s medical services. Injury recovery follows a very satisfying process.” Barcelona said in a statement.
The recovery of a meniscus problem usually takes a couple of months to make the player’s issue improve. There are plenty of questions surrounding how this extended absence might affect the fitness of Samuel Umtiti, who remains out of action for Barcelona right now.
If the estimated deadlines are met, which spoke of four months of absence, Fati would be back at the beginning of March, when Barcelona would have the return against Paris Saint-Germain.
Fati is Barcelona’s top scorer in La Liga this season after scoring four goals in seven appearances, while he also scored a goal beating Ferencvaros 5-1 in the Champions League before being injured. In total Fati has played 596 minutes this season, in which he has managed to score five goals and provide two assists.
Fati, meanhile, had been called up to the spain squad for last November’s international matches against the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. However, Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio will replace injured Fati in Spain’s national team.
