Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has said that he wants to face Tyson Fury in the ring in 2025 as that is the only way it can happen.
Fury is also taking his time to heal from his contest against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia in December the fight was in favour of the Ukrainian as he won via a unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, the most recent bout of Joshua was against Daniel Dubois in September when he was knocked down at Wembley, for the IBF heavyweight title fight.
“Every time I see people they say ‘When are you fighting Fury?’. We’re talking about the Irish community, the English community, the Nigerian community, everyone’s asking me the same question.” Joshua said.
“As a fighter, it’s up to me to deliver, and that’s why I’m saying it has to happen this year. Especially with His Excellency, Turki [Alalshikh], DAZN, Eddie [Hearn], Matchroom, and 258 behind me, we can definitely make this fight happen.” Joshua added.
It has become clear that fans are eagerly waiting for a venue that can hold thousands of fans the same way Wembley stadium in London, or Saudi Arabia.
“These conversations start the ball rolling if I’m honest with you. If we’re not talking about Tyson Fury it’s not happening.” Joshua said.
“Turki did an interview recently and he said it’s a fight he wants to see, so we’re talking about it and I’m sure it’ll happen.” he added.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s manager, had said that it is the only fight for Fury, and, other than the Dubois rematch, it is the only fight for Joshua.
“It’s definitely the only fight for Fury and other than the Dubois rematch, it’s obviously the only fight for AJ.” Hearn said.
“Has there ever been a better time? They’re both coming off defeats, both on the back end of their careers. One in Wembley, one in Riyadh, two fights in 2025.” he added.
