Anthony Joshua is rumoured to be the next fighter to step into the ring with the the IBF interim world heavyweight Daniel Dubois.
Dubois captured the IBF interim heavyweight title after stopping Filip Hrgovic in the eighth round of their fight in Riyadh on Sunday.
The 26-year-old British has expressed his desire to face Joshua, stating that he hopes the next opponent would be his fellow.
Dubois has believed that a fight against Joshua would not only be an incredible opportunity to prove himself on the biggest stage but also a chance to bring excitement and intrigue back to the heavyweight division.
He has admitted Joshua’s immense skill and the challenge he poses, but he remains undeterred, confident that he has what it takes to dethrone the champion.
“I hope the next opponent would be AJ so bring it on. This is my era and this is my time.” Dubois said.
“I have full respect for the guy, to come through that was a learning experience,”
“I’m glad I got the belt and on to the next. I was a bit cold to start off with, I had the corner advice, Frank Warren and my dad.” he added.
According to reports, both Joshua and Dubois are reportedly in negotiations for an all-UK heavyweight fight on September 21st at Wembley Stadium in London.
Joshua delivered a crushing blow to Francis Ngannou in March, securing an electrifying victory with a second-round finish.
Promoter Frank Warren has also shown confidence in matching Dubois against Joshua, insisting that he would make the fight happen today if he could.
While no official announcements have been made, insiders suggest that negotiations are underway, and both camps are open to the possibility of this blockbuster fight.
