Anthony Martial has just made his debut for Sevilla. However, the appearance of the player on loan from Manchester United to Sevilla actually drew sharp criticism from the coach, Julen Lopetegui.
Anthony Martial’s debut in Sevilla occurred when he travelled to Osasuna’s headquarters, namely El Sadar Stadium, Sunday 6 February 2022. The match ended with the score of glasses alias 0-0.
In this match, Martial played from the early minutes of the match. However, he was then replaced by Munir El Haddadi in the 77th minute.
Unfortunately, Martial’s debut with the team nicknamed Los Nervionenses did not go smoothly. To this extent, his appearance got the spotlight from Lopetegui.
The Spanish passport coach criticised the loan player from Manchester United. According to him, Martial has not been able to give 100 percent of his performance for Sevilla.
“Anthony must give us more,” said Lopetegui, adapted from Metro, Tuesday (8/2/2022).
Lopetegui considered that Martial’s adaptation was not optimal because it had something to do with the minutes he played at Man United this season. As we know, the French player has only played 11 times in all competitions.
“It was his first game and his adaptation wasn’t easy, he’s played a little bit this year and he has to get into the dynamic and get minutes and confidence,” he said.
Lopetegui’s criticism is like an implied message. It was like he was warning Martial to do better if he wanted to start. Considering that Sevilla is currently on a mission to dethrone Real Madrid from the top of the 2021-2022 Spanish League standings.
Now, Sevilla sits in second place with a collection of 47 points, 6 points adrift of Real Madrid.
