Arne Slot: Liverpool Need Best Performance to Qualify for Champions League Quarter-Finals

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has admitted that his team must show their best performance this season to ensure they advance to the Champions League quarter-finals. They will face Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who Slot called the most complete team they have ever faced so far.

Liverpool managed to win narrowly 1-0 in the first leg at the Parc des Princes last week. However, Slot is aware that his team must improve their performance for the second leg at Anfield.

Slot emphasized that Liverpool will not play defensively just because they are ahead on aggregate. “We try to win every game, and that’s what we did last week. We don’t intend to keep defending,” he said.

Slot admitted that PSG is a very tough team. “This is the most complete team we have ever faced. They have intensity, quality, and a great manager. It’s not easy to play against them,” said Slot.

Even so, Liverpool have an impressive record at Anfield. Since April, they have only lost once at home, which was in September. Statistics also show that Liverpool have an 84% chance of advancing to the next round.

Slot added that his team will play more proactively in the second leg. “We want to play differently on Tuesday. We will not play for a draw,” he said.

Liverpool learned from their home win over Manchester City this season. “We are confident from the home game against City, where we had more possession and the game was more balanced,” said Slot.

Slot also highlighted the strength of PSG, who have large financial resources and high-quality players. However, he is confident that Liverpool can overcome this challenge with the full support of the supporters at Anfield.

“We know it will be difficult, but we are ready to give our best. This is an important moment for us,” added Slot.

Liverpool have a good record in two-legged matches in Europe. From 39 times winning the first leg, they have always advanced to the next round. This is important capital for the team’s confidence.

Slot emphasized that his team will not underestimate PSG. “We respect them, but we also have big targets. We want to continue to advance in the Champions League,” he said.

With enthusiasm and a mature strategy, Liverpool hopes to maintain the aggregate advantage and win a ticket to the quarter-finals. The Anfield crowd will be a key factor in this match.
