Arsenal Draw against West Ham; Man. City still have a chance to take the top spot!

The ongoing season of the Premier League has been a hot mix for many teams, playing their boots off to make it to the top tier in the standings. It has been an interesting journey to up the ranks for most teams, especially the table toppers Arsenal and Manchester City. While Arsenal are sitting comfortably at the top, the Manchester Team, positioned second in the ranks is gradually bridging the gap and posing some threat to Arsenal’s top spot finish.

Manchester City recently came out with a dominating 3-1 win over arch rivals Liverpool during the Week 28 leg of the Premier League. This win by a huge margin allowed Man. City to crawl closer to Arsenal who are seated at the No. 1 position. Things got even better for Manchester City after Arsenal drew their Week 30 showdown against West Ham, where the Hammers were able to restrict them to a 2-2 draw.

This was a splendid performance by West Ham, considering the fact that the team has only defeated Arsenal once in their previous seven encounters. The two teams have previously faced off seven times and Arsenal has won six of their past seven games against the Hammers and hasn’t lost against them since 2019. The two teams’ most recent meeting was on Boxing Day, with Arsenal needing to come back from a goal behind to overturn a 3-1 score.

Arsenal started off with the match really well as they displayed why they are the top ranked team in the league right now. Arsenal took a strong early lead against West Ham thanks to two first-half goals, and eventually finished the half with a steady 2-0 lead. West Ham ultimately caught up with Arsenal as Arsenal lost momentum in the second half, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Going by the numbers, Arsenal have drawn both their last matches, include this one against West Ham. The two back-to-back draws have made the gap with Man City even narrower. The Manchester City line up is in fantastic shape, boasting a squad composition that is currently in the best condition.

Arsenal had this game in the palm of their hands. Arsenal had to be content with taking home just a single point as a result of penalties in the first half and goals in the second. Yet, with Man City terrorising Arsenal, 1 point was insufficient to lessen their load.

Since the past 2 weeks, Man City, currently ranked second in the Premier League rankings, has remained competitive with Arsenal, who remain in first place. Now this draw has allowed Manchester City to have their hopes and spirits high as the difference between them and Aresnal is just 4 points, and Man City still has one more match to go.

If Manchester City is able to win their next match against Bayern, then they have a very strong chance of dethroning Arsenal to occupy the top spot, ending the league stages as the No. 1 ranked team!
