Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta, highlighted his team’s final finish after losing 0-2 to Liverpool in the third round of the 2023-2024 FA Cup. According to him, the Gunners performed well but unfortunately they could not take advantage of the opportunities created.
The Arsenal vs Liverpool duel took place at the Emirates Stadium, London, Monday (8/1/2024) early morning WIB. The visitors scored two goals through suicide goals from Jakub Kiwior (80′) and Luis Diaz (90+5′).
After the match, Arteta admitted that Arsenal played well and created quite a lot of opportunities. But unfortunately, none of these opportunities could be converted into goals.
“The performance was good and the number of chances too. We just had to win the game, but we lost,” said Arteta, reported by the BBC, Monday (8/1/2024).
“We didn’t take advantage of the opportunities that existed. “To win the match we need to take advantage of it,” continued the man from Spain.
Arteta realizes that playing better than Liverpool is still not enough. Even though he lost, he will not change his playing pattern. However, one thing will be emphasized, Arsenal must play more efficiently.
“You were better than the best team in Europe and you created a lot of chances. I’ve never seen a team do it against them like we did. But in reality, that’s not enough,” explained Arteta.
“That’s what happened and we have to continue playing in the same way and be more efficient,” stressed the 41-year-old coach.
This result also stops Arsenal’s progress in the 2023-2024 FA Cup. Declan Rice and his friends’ hopes of becoming champions only remain in the Premier League and Champions League.
