Arsenal still have to fight hard again to secure a place in the 2022-2023 Champions League. A number of scenarios can be fought by Arsenal to qualify for the Champions League, one of which is that Arsenal may even have to fight for a 16-0 win over Everton in the final match of the English League 2021-2022.
Arsenal were forced to surrender 0-2 by Newcastle United in the 37th week of the 2021-2022 Premier League, Tuesday (17/5/2022). The Gunners -Arsenal nickname – conceded an own goal by Ben White (55′) and contributions from Bruno Guimaraes (85′).
These results make Arsenal fail to reclaim the Champions League zone. The fourth place in the standings is currently occupied by city rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, who in another match won 1-0 over Burnley.
Arsenal are now ranked fifth with a collection of 66 points, two points behind Tottenham who are in fourth place. In the next match, Arsenal can take two scenarios to qualify for the Champions League.
Tottenham itself is known to face Norwich City in the final match. While Arsenal, they will play Everton. The first scenario that can be achieved is Arsenal must win, while hoping for Tottenham to lose.
Second, apart from having to win, Arsenal must also score as many goals as possible. The reason, Tottenham is far superior in terms of goal difference. The Lillywhites-Tottenham’s nickname- has a difference of 24 goals, while Arsenal only has nine goals.
In the final match later, if Tottenham are held to a draw by Norwich, and Arsenal win over Everton, their points will both amount to 69 points. Tottenham are certainly more likely to qualify for the Champions League because they are far superior in terms of goal difference.
However, this scenario can still make Arsenal win back the Champions League ticket, but on one note that sounds impossible. Arsenal must win big with a score of 16-0 over Everton if Tottenham are held to a draw by Norwich.
This is of course very impossible, especially Everton are also in full motivation because they have to avoid the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s journey at the end of the season was easier because they faced a team that had been confirmed to be relegated.
Now, it is interesting to see Arsenal’s struggle to qualify for the 2022-2023 Champions League. All the final matches of the 2021-2022 Premier League will be held on Sunday 22 May 2022.
