Arsenal beat Chelsea mercilessly. The Gunners won with a landslide score of 5-0 in the postponed duel in Week 29 of the 2023/2024 Premier League, Tuesday (23/4/2024).
Playing at the Emirates Stadium, this time the London Derby is Arsenal’s opportunity to get away from being chased by rivals at the top of the standings. Chelsea also needs points to improve its position in the standings.
Even so, this time the match was relatively one-sided. Arsenal was too tough for Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad could not provide adequate resistance.
Arsenal’s five goal party this time came from the actions of Leandro Trossard (4′), Ben White (52′, 70′), and Kai Havertz (57′, 65′). Chelsea couldn’t score a single goal in return.
This victory strengthens Arsenal’s position at the top of the Premier League standings with 77 points from 34 matches.
The match just started and Arsenal immediately scored a goal. In the 4th minute, attack from the left side, Rice passes to Trossard who is ready with penetration and a low shot. Goal! Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea.
Arsenal’s quick goal clearly changed the rhythm of the match. Chelsea then played more out. The match was more open. 15 minutes passed.
Chelsea had several opportunities through counter-attack schemes. In the 18th minute, Disasi’s attempt was still off the mark. The Blues kept trying, but their passing flow was poor.
30 minutes into the match, Arsenal were still dominating the match. Havertz and Trossard’s movements really troubled Chelsea’s defense. Score 1-0.
The match resumed and Arsenal continued to go crazy. 52nd minute, second goal for the Gunners. Corner kick scheme, Rice’s shot was blocked by the goalkeeper, but the ball landed in front of White who was ready to meet it with a curved kick. Goal! Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea.
In the 57th minute, Arsenal scored the third goal. Odegaard’s through ball brought Havertz face to face with the goalkeeper. Havertz then gouged the ball with precision, outwitting Petrovic. Goal! Arsenal 3-0 Chelsea.
In the 65th minute, Arsenal scored another goal. Saka penetrated from the right side, entered the penalty box, and sent the ball for Havertz. Once touched, Havertz followed it up with a shot into the corner. Goal! Arsenal 4-0 Chelsea.
In the 70th minute, Arsenal’s goal party continued. Odegaard was left free to run to throw the ball into the penalty box. Ben White then met the ball with a volley. Goal! Arsenal 5-0 Chelsea.
Arsenal still created a number of opportunities in the remainder of the second half, but there were no additional goals. Score 5-0, London Cannon crushed the Blues.
