Arsene Wenger Backs Mesut Ozil for Fenerbahce

Mesut Ozil has now made the decision to leave Arsenal in search of first-team football and former his manager Arsene Wenger believes he will thrive at his childhood club of Fenerbahce.

Since Wenger’s departure, Ozil has struggled with different head manager and the current manager Mikel Arteta hasn’t even signed him up for Arsenal’s sides in the Europa League and Premier League.

“Mesut is like if you imagine an orchestra in music. He’s a guy who plays the ball at the right time,” Wenger said.

“The timing of his pass is exceptional, but the creativity of his pass is as well. In every situation he confronts, he gives the right answer and that is genius.” Wenger added.

Ozil made 184 Premier League appearances for Arsenal following his move from Real Madrid in 2013, scoring 33 goals and setting up a further 54.

“I must say he can provide the assists, the key pass. I remember he was the first one, the quickest one to break the number of assists in the Premier League. In 2015/16 he had 19 assists in the league. That is absolutely amazing.” Wenger said.

“If the moment is right around him, the timing of the pass will be perfect and the quality of the pass will be perfect. He’s the kind of players strikers love, always.

“He certainly will be the biggest transfer of the January window because the world of football is a bit quiet.” Wenger added.

Ozil has been consistently excellent for Arsenal. The 32-year-old midfielder is now in a position to join Fenerbahce and an official announcement on his free transfer is expected to be made this week, once his medical and necessary documents have been completed.

“It’s fantastic news for Fenerbahçe who are in a strong position in the league and I think he can be the piece of the puzzle to make them even more of a threat to win the Turkish league.” Wenger said.
